All enemies have a color wheel on the back of their cards along with a reaction. Players must be careful of who they attack and their angle of attack in order to avoid nasty reactions. On top of that, weapons have special abilities that can only be triggered if they are standing in specific spots around an enemy.
Each color represents a different reaction. Here is what each color will do.
Red, Blue, and Green represent the 3 players in the game. When a player stands adjacent to an enemy and there is a matching color shown on a card the player will get additional bonuses based off of various gear they have equipped. If you are not a matching color then this space is considered white.
White - This is the neutral color. Nothing special happens when standing in this space.
Black - This is where reactions come into play. When attacking in a black space you will trigger an enemies reaction.
Reactions will include gaining shields, attack a player if they move away from an enemy, counter attacking, dodging attacks, and so on. This will sometimes cause some hesitation to attack an enemy only to find out in the end you should have just gone for it!
Minion have no sides or deirection they face unlike bosses, so it doesnt matter which side you attack them from. On the bottom left is a wheel that can be up to two different colors. For the card shown, the red player can gain there weapon bonus by attacking this enemy. Likewise, any other player that attacks would trigger the counter on this card, found in the bottom right. Since the other weakness color is black, this would cause this enemy to move two spaces away after the attack.
Boss weaknesses are more complex compared to their minion counterparts. Instead of just two colors to choose from, there are now four! This gives some added complexity and strategy for player movement on the battlefield. Bosses will often have additional reaction types not found on minions and usually having to do with a special gimick found only with that particular boss.
Everything i’ve shown off today is still in early development. Anything is subject to change, be expanded upon or just deleted all together.
