Artifacts are where all the different skills are presented and there are 3 different types. Aura artifacts deal mostly with movement type things and gaining the upper hand in battle. Blood artifacts lean sharply towards doing damage to enemies. And lastly, memories deal with buffing the players in many ways to help them survive the battle. Each weapon or armor hosted a open slot at the bottom, represented by a white circle. On the bottom of all artifacts is how many open slots that artifact needs to be equipped. So with that rule set lets jump in and take a look at each Artifact style and how they can be used.
Aura artifacts deal mainly with anything that can help with movement. Movement can happen with more way than just simply moving your charcater on the board though. They can change when characters or enemies take their turns, or even skip them altogether. We can go into the different ways this can be accomplished but for now we will just focus on the basics. Shadowy Figure is active if you have 1 available slot on any piece of gear. Typically a player cannot voluntarily move through an enemy unless they have the Jump keyword. But this artifact is a bit better in that as it costs nothing to use.
Blood artifacts are all about destroying your enemies. This is where all the damage dealing abilities and magical spells are at. Ice Spike has some interesting keywords that make it work so lets get into it. Range we went over the last post so we can skip that one, whats important is that it has been combined with the Straight keyword.
Straight X - An ability/action can only be measured in a straight line.
Multi Target - if a ranged attack would travel through multiple enemies, they all are hit.
This combo allows the Ice spike to hit multiple enemies really far away as long as the they line up in one of the 4 directions a player can cast it. Side note: im not in love with the multi attack keyword and think it could use some cleaning up or combining with another keyword, we will see how it goes!
Memory artifacts will grant players buffs to stats, healing spells or anything thats going to make them live a little longer. Memories tend to lean a little more into needing MP to use and in that case it helps to be carrying a staff that can syphon MP or other wizard type gear that can give MP bonuses. Rejuvicarnation is an awesome artifact that will trickle out HP.
Status - When you gain a status, write that name and associated ability on your character sheet.
Regen - on your turn gain HP equal to your character level.
Ammo X - This gear can be used X times than it cannot be used again unless it gains ammo again.
With these 3 keywords combined you get a hp regeneration spell that lasts 3 rounds. This spell can be cast as long as you have MP but only once per round.
And that for the most part is every type of card in the game that will be placed on a character board. So with that said, next we will go over the character board and character sheet!
Everything i’ve shown off today is still in pretty early development so anything is still subject to change, be expanded on or just deleted all together.
